CUET-PG to be conducted from June 1-10 next year

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct CUET-PG from June 1 to 10 next year. The application process will start in mid-March. According to UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar, the second edition of the Common University Entrance Test for admission to post graduate courses in universities will be conducted in June. After 2 months of falling numbers, weekly Covid cases up 11%

Amid the recent surge of Covid cases globally, India’s numbers remain largely stable. Though there has been a marginal rise in cases in the country in the week ending Sunday, reversing a nine-week trend of declining numbers, it’s too early to say whether this indicates a fresh trend. CAG: Risk of data tampering in Assam NRC updation process

The CAG of India has flagged the risk of data tampering in the NRC for Assam, due to “improper” software development related to data capture and correction during the updation process of the citizenship document. A highly secure software was required to be developed for the NRC updation exercise, but during the audit, lack of proper planning in this regard came to the fore. The updated final NRC was released on August 31, 2019, with total 3,11,21,004 names included out of 3,30,27,661 applicants.

Trans people can apply for constable’s job: Maharashtra to HC

The Maharashtra government on Friday told the Bombay HC it will allow transgender persons to apply in the state-wide recruitment process for police constables. Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Abhay Ahuja were told by advocate-general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni that it will provide for a third drop-down option for transgenders after male and female in the online application form by December 13. Transgender candidates can apply before December 15, the last date for submitting the forms.

Himachal election results live: Postal ballots to be counted first

The counting for Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will start at 8am in 68 counting halls spread across 59 locations. The counting will start with the postal ballot at 8am followed by EVM counting at 8:30am. A three-tier security system has been set up for the strong rooms, the innermost parameter of which will be guarded by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and second and third by the armed Police and district executive force. No candidate or any other person will be allowed within 100 metres of counting centres except those with a valid identity card/pass issued by the Election Commission of India. Didn't mean to hurt affected Kashmiris, says Lapid

Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, whose criticism of 'The Kashmir Files' irked a section of the right-wing, has offered a "total apology" to people if his comments have hurt or insulted people who suffered during the Kashmir exodus, but maintained his remarks were limited to the quality of the film. He said his remarks were neither a statement on the political situation in Kashmir, nor a denial of the tragedy.
