HC pulls up NIA judge for not hearing bail plea for 6 months, sets date

A delay of six months in hearing the bail plea of a 60-year-old man jailed under the stringent UAPA law has prompted the Delhi high court to fix a date for the special judge to hear it. I-T has filed 107 cases on black money stashed overseas: Govt

The government on Monday told Parliament that the income tax department has filed over 10,000 cases with 107 related to black money stashed overseas. Responding to a question in Lok Sabha, junior minister for finance Pankaj Choudhury said till the end of May, in the Panama Papers cases, undisclosed credits of Rs 20,078 crore have been detected, with another Rs 246 crore detected in the Paradise Papers cases.

The government earned Rs 3.4 lakh crore in financial year 2020-21 from central excise duty and cess on petroleum products, petroleum minister Hardeep Puri informed the Lok Sabha on Monday, adding that it used a large part of the money to provide free vaccines and relief to the poor through the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, under which free ration was given to 80 crore beneficiaries during April-November in 2020 and May-June this year.

Students can now get 40% of univ credits from e-courses

Come the 2021-22 academic session, students of 149 universities would be allowed to earn upto 40% of their required credits from among the over 800 online courses available on the Swayam platform. The academic bank of credit (ABC) would also become functional from the forthcoming academic session, which will be a repository of the credits earned by a student. ISC pass percentage jumps from 96.8 to 99.7

Over 99% of the 3.1 lakh students have cleared Class X (ICSE) and Class XII (ISC) under the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). While the board could not hold examinations this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the marks for both the classes were calculated on the basis of earlier exams and assessments. The results declared on Saturday showed the pass percentage in Class XII seeing a big jump from 96.8% in 2020 to 99.7% this year.
